Who We’re Looking For
We welcome enquiries from handlers who:

Have a calm, friendly, and well-socialised dog suitable for therapy work

Are passionate about supporting emotional wellbeing

Value professionalism, empathy, and safeguarding

Understand the importance of putting the dog’s welfare first

Whether you are already an experienced therapy dog handler or are exploring this work for the first time, we’re happy to have a conversation.

Standards, Safety & Wellbeing
To ensure the highest standards of care, all Therapy Paws UK handler–dog teams must:

Be fully insured

Hold appropriate assessment and certification for therapy work

Have an enhanced DBS check (handlers)

Follow our safeguarding policies and code of conduct

Commit to working in a way that prioritises the wellbeing of both people and dogs

We provide guidance and support throughout the onboarding process to make expectations clear and achievable.
